If you are feeling overwhelmed by the price tag of stamps to mail your Christmas cards, here are a few rules of thumb to remember:

• Don’t send cards to those who never send a card anymore.

• Don’t send cards to those you knew 50 years ago for a few months.

• Don’t send cards to those you are already giving a gift to.

If you Christmas plans include taking a trip to the snow, try this homemade snow ice cream recipe as an inexpensive dessert. Mix one slightly beaten egg, 1/2 cup of sugar, a pinch of salt, one teaspoon of vanilla and two cups of milk. Mix in enough fresh snow to make it the consistency of homemade ice cream. It makes about four quarts. For more information, visit http://www.allthingsfrugal.com/r_h_fun_kids.htm.
