A better way to rid those nighttime coughs

Here’s a tip passed down by a family member that we tried on our daughter over the holidays. If you have trouble with a bad cough at night, don’t buy expensive cough syrups to relieve cough symptoms. Simply rub Vicks Vapor Rub on the bottom of the feet and put on socks. I can guarantee this works! For more ideas about Vick’s Vapor Rub, visit http://www.livingonadime.com/homemade-vicks-vapor-shower-discs/.

Looking for more frugal ways to clean around the house? Try these ideas that I found.
• To clean a smelly drain, pour vinegar down it. Let it sit for 30 minutes and then flush with cold water.
• For stained coffee mugs or tea cups, fill a dishpan or sink with two parts water and one part baking soda. Soak overnight and in the morning rub with a sponge and rinse.
• To polish faucets, use a soft cloth and buff a dime size amount of toothpaste onto the faucet.

It can be a challenge keeping kids busy during the cold, winter months. Give them something to play with and eat at the same time by making chocolate play dough. Just mix and knead a 16-ounce container of chocolate frosting, one cup of creamy peanut butter and one and-a-half cups of powdered sugar. There are more edible play dough options at this website.
