My friends Tom and Nancy Shock got more success than they bargained for when they advertised for a tenant in the Lodi News-Sentinel.

All our ads are published on Lodinews.com as well as the newspaper and when their vacant rental home went online, the phone rang.

A young woman thought the house sounded perfect and she wanted to see it.

"The address is in the paper," said Nancy. "My husband will meet you Tuesday at 7 p.m."

A 4:20 p.m. Tuesday the young lady called again — she couldn't find the house on Pleasant Street.

"Don't worry, my husband will meet you at 7 p.m."

"Yes. Well. OK. But where is the house? I'm on Pleasant Street near Elizabeth."

"Why don't you drive to a big intersection and I'll direct you," said Nancy. "Can you find Lodi Avenue and Hutchins Street?"

The young woman's GPS seemed to be broken so she pulled into a gas station. After more discussion, the station clerk came on the phone.

"Look, this IS a big intersection. We're the BP station at the corner of Highway 113 and 60, right across from Allied Bank."

There's no Allied Bank in Lodi.

Nancy asked to speak again to the young woman who had answered the ad.

"Are you in Lodi?" asked Nancy.

"Lodi, California?"

"Oh! No. I'm in Lodi, Wisconsin."

I guess she didn't think the commute would work out.
