Our police reporter, Katie Nelson, and I have been going through the autopsy report for Loren Herzog, the killer who killed himself after being paroled last year.

The Washoe County Medical Examiner verified that Herzog, as suspected, died due to suicide by hanging on Jan. 17.

Other findings: There were no drugs in his system, he still had an ankle monitor on (he was confined to the grounds of High Desert State Prison) and he had an array of tattoos.

Flames, skulls, a panther, and more.

One tattoo read: "Made and Fueled by Hate and Restrained by Reality."

Another reads, "spur dun verwustung."

Google translate says that means "trace of devastation."

The report lists Herzog as being married and does not indicate any religious affiliation.

Herzog died shortly after midnight, at 12:30 a.m.
