Update: I spoke to Hayley Greene Monday night at 6:30 and she said Emma is now in surgery for the follow-up procedure. This is required in about 15 percent of transplant cases, Hayley said, and is to address "oozing" of blood that results from the surgery and heavy use of blood-thinning medications.

She said Emma continued to be stable Monday, though she is heavily sedated and unable to communicate. So now the Greenes are waiting again. What a roller coaster ride of emotions.

Emma should be out of surgery later tonight. We'll try to update on Tuesday.

In the meantime, those who'd like to offer support to the Greenes can make online donations to COTA (Children's Organ Donation Assoc.) by going to www.cota.org.
