The cast of Les Miserables received a standing ovation Sunday afternoon at Hutchins Street Square.
It was well-deserved.
This production features soaring voices, impressive costuming and seamless stagecraft.
It may be the most impressive - and ambitious - work of community theater ever presented in Lodi.
Judy and I joined several hundred others for the musical performance based on the Victor Hugo novel. The stirring production left many in the audience wiping away tears. The audience rose to its feet for a rousing final ovation.
I'm not sure it would be fair to single out any particular cast member. I'd only say Les Miserables provides a shining showcase for the depth and richness of local and regional theatrical talent.
It might be said that this is a good local theater production of Les Miserables.
I'd say it is a fine and worthy production, period.
Bravo to director Nicole K. Howton and everyone who made this cultural gift to Lodi possible.
