Jaw-dropping.

That's how I'd describe the Sutter Home Winery project out on Jacob Brack Road west of Lodi.

This week, Bob Torres, senior VP of operations of Trinchero Family Estates, the parent company of Sutter Home, offered a tour of the project to me and Joshua Udalgo, one of our photographers.

This expansion includes a vast new bottling and warehouse space that could house several Wal-Marts. Included is a high-rise automated storage system, which is behind Bob in the attached photo.

The Sutter Home project reflects an investment of roughly $200 million and could bring up to 400 new jobs to the area.

I was amazed at the scale of the construction and the complexity of planning. It is a modern marvel.

I was impressed, too, by Bob's grasp of everything from the security systems to the construction specs and the special design touches in the employees' lounge.

We'll be doing a story and photo package on the Sutter Home project soon, but I wanted to share this photo in the meantime.
