Emma Greene heading to UC Davis
Posted on
September 11, 2012
Emma Greene is off to UC Davis soon.
Last October, Emma underwent a grueling lung and liver transplant at the Lucile Packard Children's Hospital affiliated with Stanford University.
Her recovery was difficult but Emma is now doing quite well.
Saturday, at a festive send-off party hosted by Bill and Cathy Huckaby, Emma looked radiant.
Emma was the Lodi High School valedictorian for the class of 2011.
She has Cystic Fibrosis, which attacks the respiratory system. Her transplant was the first of its kind at Packard.
Emma's looking forward to dorm and campus life. Like most parents sending their oldest off to college (their son, Joseph, attends Lodi High) Mick and Hayley Greene are happy for their daughter — but know they are in for their own adjustment.
Mick is a Renaissance man who enjoys discussing literature and history. Emma is quick — and unafraid of engaging her father in sometimes-robust intellectual conversation.
"It just won't be the same," Mick said. "Who will I argue with now?"
