You may have missed it, but Thursday was Ralph Lea History Day in Lodi.
Mayor Joanne Mounce presented Ralph with a proclamation and thanked him and his all the history volunteers who have collected, published and celebrated Lodi history.
Lea has researched and written dozens and dozens of editions of the Lodi Historian. The Lodi Historian is a publication of the Lodi Historical Society and is given to society members. A limited number of the publications in bound collections can be purchased at Hill House Museum, 826 S. Church St.
Since 1998, he and co-writer Christi Kennedy have published the Vintage Lodi column in the Lodi News-Sentinel. Before that, Lea published a Lodi history column in the Stockton Record's Lodi edition.
His huge collection of historical photos is the No. 1 source of images of "the way we were" years ago in Lodi. Lea shares photos widely with writers and publishers of Lodi's history.
He has been active for years in the Lodi Historical Society, the Hill House Museum and San Joaquin County Historical Society & Museum.
