On Tuesday, my son will go on his first "real" field trip.
I should be thankful his school still affords these opportunities, but as the mother of a brand new 6-year-old, I have to admit I'm nervous.
See, I won't be there to hold his hand, to make sure he gets from point A to point B.
And I won't be driving him, a la his preschool days. My kindergartner is getting on a big yellow school bus. Another first.
Parents, how did you handle this big milestone? I'm sure it's the first of many big "firsts," and this little mommy-free field trip won't matter in 10 years when he's driving his own vehicle for the first time.
