With technology today, the ability to prank people is at an all-time high. With just a few clicks of the touchscreen, you can play a really funny joke….or get yourself into a lot of hot water.

I watched the latter occur this weekend. What started out as a couple of kids texting “I hid the body” to random numbers transpired into a phone call from the Sherriff’s office and a possible charge had the recipient of the text chosen to go that direction.

While one person responded with a clever comeback, another took the text literally and immediately phoned the police. And with technology comes excellent tracking abilities, even if you think you have blocked your number.

I love pranks myself, but you have to be careful that you have fully thought out the ramifications of the joke. Pranking strangers should be left off the list altogether! Pranking the elderly is another one to skip. Just make sure you think before you joke.

It’s all fun and games, until the Sherriff shows up at your door looking for a grave.
