A child’s first experience with snow is an unforgettable event and you wouldn’t expect to happen right here in Lodi on an elementary school campus. But it does. Funded mainly by the Cortopassi Family Foundation, truckloads of snow are dumped onto local school yards.
Eagerly, mesmerized students with beaming smiles await their turn to folic in the square of winter wonderland.
“It’s a great opportunity for these students because many are having their first experience in the snow,” said Lawrence Elementary principal, Carlos Villafana.
Today, I had the pleasure of watching Lawrence Elementary students participate in their snow day. One by one, students rushed to the icy particles. They made snow angels, snowmen, snowballs and even allow themselves to be buried under scoops of snow. It was a day that these kids won’t forget, and neither will I, for that matter. It was heartwarming to see these students experience this wonderful element of nature.
