The California Department of Education (CDE) posted a news release warning and is reminding people not to share personal information over the phone.

A current telemarketing scam is under investigation. Citizens have reported receiving phone calls where the caller identifies  themselves as working for the CDE and needs information (personal information, credit card numbers, etc.) for the PSAT. Though the caller ID is reflecting the main line for the State of California, this call is illegitimate.

If you receive a call like this, you are encouraged to hand up immediately.
