With the amount of violence in video games, television and movies, children can be desensitized to the effects of violence.
It looks like schools might have the opportunity to educate students in this matter. The SB-552 bill that was recently approved by the Senate reads:
“Instruction in the area of social sciences may also include instruction on violence awareness, which may include a component drawn from personal testimony in the form of oral or video histories of individuals who were involved in violence awareness efforts that exemplify the economic and cultural effects of violence prevention efforts within a city, the state, and the country.”
If the bill passes, schools will have the option of integrating violence awareness and prevention into their teachings.
What type of lessons would you like to see included in the curriculum?
