Attention parents: A little law that may have a big impact on the image of your students' school was quietly signed by the governor this week.

In sum, it prohibits the annual Academic Performance Index figure to be based solely on test scores.

For those who don't know, the API is that three-digit number attached to each California school based on how well they did on standardized testing. And that three-digit number holds a lot of weight in public opinion.
