Parties. Drunkenness. Profanity. Nudity. Abuse. Rape. Conspiracy. Inappropriate social networking. Anonymous hackers posting evidence online. A 12-minute video of a partygoer joking about the catastrophe. The recent tragedy in Steubenville, Ohio has all of the makings of a warped drama you might see at your local theater. Unfortunately, this tragedy was real and in the middle sits two teenagers who made some very poor decisions and leaves many others shaking in their boots as the investigation continues.

Why do I share this? Because there are multiple lessons here to address with your children and students. Talk to them about the morals. One night can change a life forever and the ripples of a foolish act can be long lasting, even for a “spectator.”
