Classroom Hero award for teachers!
Posted on
October 22, 2012
Each year, the Lodi News-Sentinel sponsors a “Classroom Hero” contest to honor extraordinary teachers in Lodi. Last year, we received 155 nomination forms selecting 49secondary teachers and 452 nomination forms selecting 133 primary teachers!
Clearly, winning this title is a big deal!
The selected Classroom Heroes will be asked to attend the Lodi Community Band Christmas concert on December 9 at Hutchins Street Square. There, they will be honored and awarded certificates by our publisher, Marty Weybret.
Every nominated teacher will be acknowledged in the News-Sentinel, which is a wonderful feeling of appreciation for hard working instructors, even if they don’t take the title this year!
This award is special because the students are the opinions that count. In order for this to successful, we need the help of local students who are face to face with teachers on a daily basis. Equipped with nomination forms, I visit as many school sites as possible to promote the contest and encourage students to reflect back on their student careers to peg the teachers that went above and beyond all of their other teachers. Students are asked what make a teacher awesome instead of just okay. Unfortunately, I cannot make it to every classroom! Don’t fret though. Every student has an opportunity to nominate their Classroom Hero. Just go to lodinews.com/hero and fill out the form today. Make sure to give specific examples of situations that detail why this teacher is incredible!
We look forward hearing about ALL of the amazing teachers in Lodi this year!
