A new report about the nation's graduation rate has come out just as Lodi-area graduates have thrown their caps into the air.

After years of decline and stagnation, a new report by the Education Week publication finds a solid increase in students receiving their high school diplomas for the second straight year.

All said, the graduation rate nationwide is 73 percent, the highest rate of completion since the 1970s, according to the report.

Want to know what the local rates are? Stay tuned. The California Department of Education is due to release high school graduation rates later this month.
