Agrobusiness has gotten a bit more attention lately as an affordable way to take a fun vacation. Exotic destinations like Cyprus in the Mediterranean have for years offered travelers an alternative to staying in pricey tourist hotels.

With agrobusiness, visitors learn more about daily life by meeting the people who live in the region. Tourists live with people in the community, try their cuisine and participate in daily family life.

With California's vast agriculture resources, I'm wondering if Lodi has some farms in the area that offer people a glimpse of Lodi's lifestyle. I'm looking for family farms that sell their products directly to consumers – and if you get to tour the farm or meet the actual farmer, that's even better!

So what is your favorite place to buy food or products directly from a farmer or rancher?

I've been looking into this story for a new feature in the News-Sentinel's travel guide called Discover. It is put into hotel rooms and throughout the community to help tourists find Lodi's gems. I can personally tell you it works because when I came to interview for this job in November, I used it to find Papa Nick's III Italian Restaurant and the Lodi Beer Company.
