Catching up with former fire chief Kevin Donnelly
We reported earlier this month that Kevin Donnelly resigned as fire chief on May 1 because he was
moving to Washington to be closer to his family.
He also took a job with the Redmond Fire Department, and I found
an article from the city's paper (the Redmond Reporter) discussing his first few days
in a new uniform.
"Coming from California's Central Valley, the Pacific
Northwest's natural environment was one of the reasons Donnelly and
his wife, Cathy Donnelly, identified the area as somewhere they
would like to move to for their next stage in life. The fact that
RFD had an open chief position was serendipitous.
"'It fell right into our spoon,' Kevin said. 'Call it what you
want, but it was very timely.'"
So what is going on in Lodi? Earlier this month, the Lodi City Council hired Dan Haverty, who
retired as the chief of Folsom in 2010. He will serve as interim
chief while the council searches for a permanent replacement, which
usually takes about six months.
