Happy Monday everyone. I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. I know I spent mine sleeping and relaxing after a bout of the stomach flu. You can read about the unpleasant way it came about (because I know you are dying to know) while I was on a very pleasant trip at Lauren Nelson's blog The Urban Hippie.

We are now linking Lauren's personal blog through our website and it is filled with oodles of photo and word inspiration. We also linked chief photographer Dan Evan's blog http://ambientfocus.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Ambient Focus to our website. You can get behind-the-scenes look at the day-to-day life of a photographer. Right now, he has a great post on Kabaddi, an intense athletic competition popular in India, Iran, Pakistan.

And so now on to business. I wrote a story for Monday's paper on the Lodi Electric Utility changing its bills from a due date to due upon receipt. Did you notice? Were you upset or did you not care?

As a breakout for my story, I did a list of how much it costs to run your appliances in your home. The one I was blown away by was $1.19 per day for your desktop computer when it is plugged in for 24 hours! That's $35.70 in a typical month. And it's $434.35 a year! That's 67 Chipotle burritos. 67!

So start unplugging those computers when you are heading out of town for the weekend and start saving some money. Check out the document from the Lodi Electric Utility on how much your favorite gadget are costing you.
