Happy Tuesday!

I was on vacation the past week in beautiful and quite humid Missouri visiting family and friends. Based on the rain outside, apparently I brough the weather back with me.

Since I have been back to work, I have spent most of my time writing about the first day of firework sales in Lodi. We will probably do some follow-ups about how many the nonprofits sold, if there were enough stands in Lodi and if there were any problems. Anyone with any concerns or comments can reach me at maggiec@lodinews.com or at 369-7035.

I spoke with Dennis Revell, who is the president and CEO of Revell Communications. The public relations company is representing TNT Fireworks, a large wholesale distributor.

I asked him if he felt that six stands are enough for Lodi. During the Lodi City Council hearings, his company had advocated for 10 stands.

Here's his response:

"I think that we will probably find that where we are at right now is a manageable number, and an appropriate volume for Lodi. But the business this week may dictate more stands.

"Clearly, it is a decision that rests with the city of Lodi and the non-profits. The community can make that decision and should make that decision for itself."

Make sure you pick up Wednesday's paper to read about the first day of sales.
