More questions with outgoing Mayor Bob Johnson
Posted on
December 7, 2011
Howdy everyone. I'm getting ready to head to the council meeting
at 7 p.m. to see who is elected mayor. There is some chatter over
on the comments section of the story I wrote on Tuesday about what is going to
happen.
Find out what is going on by checking our Twitter feed or on
our Facebook page.
I'll be writing updates throughout the meeting.
I did a question and answer
interview with Bob Johnson last week, and we had to cut some of
it for space. Here are a few more questions if you are
interested.
Q: You previously said you wanted to have a council forum out in
the community, especially on the Eastside. That did not happen. Is
there any reason?
A: I don't know whether that was a dream that got lost in the
process or what. I thought back on times we have tried to do that
in the past and really there has been a minimal turnout.
Just look at some of the issues we deal with on the council level
and we don't get anyone to come on down and give us their
opinion.
Q: How does your style of mayor differ from previous
mayors?
A: I believe in trying to be involved as much as I can and that
means getting out of my recliner and going here and going there. As
an example, I don't know whether I succeeded, but I tried to attend
a meeting of every board and commission once a year.
Q: What are you looking forward to doing most when you are not
mayor?
A: My "social schedule" will contract a little bit, but still if
you are going to be involved, you have to be willing to get out
there. Just because you are no longer mayor, that doesn't mean you
get a year off free.
