In today's paper, I have two stories that had accompanying documents that I wanted to post.

The first is the Police Officers' Association of Lodi has filed a claim against the city because two of the lead negotiators for the union and city had a business together. Because of the relationship, the unions are arguing that it voids the five agreements they signed from February 2009 to June 2010.

If it goes to the courts, the suit will be for more than $1 million since the union gave up $800,000 in concessions for the 2010 year alone.

While I quoted a bit from the claim in my story, feel free to download it and look at it yourself.

The other document I posted is related to the Bike to Work week story. Officer Chris Kaufman was distributing a safety worksheet to people on School Street to help educate them on safe riding.

If you are an avid bike rider or your kids like to cruise around town, you probably should read it to make sure you are obeying all the laws and taking precautions against accidents.

Hope everyone is having a happy Tuesday.

The 20% pay raise for Lodi police in 2008. This was not a negotiation---this was a "gift"'. This was gasoline on the pension fire. Who's minding the store?
