Why do men get to have all the fun? …Ladies it’s time to get out and bbq!

First timer-  Get to know your grill.  A gas grill is as simple as turning on your oven.(Best for the novice) Make sure the gas is on, insert the lighter (if needed) and BOOM!  Close the lid and let the grill get nice and hot before cooking. (If you have a DCS grill, no waiting is necessary, just turn on and cook.) If you’re using charcoal, make life easy and get the match light bag.  Place the bag into the grill.  Light the bag and wait to cook until the charcoal is ash colored.

Keep it simple- Simple BBQ items to start with that everyone will enjoy are hot dogs and hamburgers.  They’re easy, quick, a perfect opportunity to get to know your grill and they taste delicious.

Perfect produce- Ready to cook some vegetables?  Just SKEWER it!  They are fun to eat and because they are so colorful and add to the look of your plate.  Be sure to soak your wood skewers before using them.  For the smart BBQ’r, get a mesh grilling basket for any type and size of vegetable you feel like sizzling.  Cut and cook vegetables, shrimp, even meat by placing them in the mesh basket!

Magical marinade- The secret to my marinade is in the brush… Make a bbq brush out of rosemary!  Take a bunch of rosemary and tie it together with kitchen twine.(or whatever is available)  Soak the brush in minced garlic, olive oil , salt and pepper.  Use the marinade to baste the grill and brush the meat a minimum of 3 times while cooking.  Simply use your judgment and listen to your taste buds.  Want to add more?  By all means, add more!

GO FISH!  Fish is very simple to cook on the grill.  Cedar plank Salmon is very popular right now, but so is white fish.  Although delicious, salmon can be very rich, while white fish is very subtle in flavor, low in fat, loaded with omega 3 and pairs with so many side dishes. White fish gets flakier and can be cooked in aluminum foil (Don’t forget to add olive oil, butter or non-stick spray to the foil before adding the fish!)  Another wonderful method for cooking fish is a cage.  IF you’re grilling a whole fish, add garlic and seasoning to the inside of the fish for a burst of flavor!

Here are some great BBQ tools for grillers of all stages!

Stainless Steel Utensils-  Start with the basics and get this complete grilling set from Fisher & Paykel.

Temp Fork- Need a little reassurance?  Grill your meats to the perfect temperature by using the TempFork!

Mesquite Wood Chips- Wood chips are a savory flavor source!  Grilling with wood chips imparts the flavors of the wood into your food.

Pizza Stone-  Pizza stones are great!  Get the grill really hot, put the stone inside and let the grill get nice and hot.   The stone creates a heat source that is consistent from end to end!   This avoids heat spots and makes a perfect pizza.

Ladies, this fool-proof Baby Back Root beer Ribs recipe will leave the men wanting more!
