Life in the Central Valley has a certain feel to it. You've experienced it if you've lived here for any length of time. It truly is an amazing feeling, hard to capture or describe.

Certain artists get it. Then they put it on canvas.

I wrote about the Haggin Museum in my last post. Housed within those walls are paintings that depict our Gold Rush region's past. Though they were painted, in some cases, over a century ago, the artists have effectively taken the atmosphere of the Central Valley, the glow if you will, and immortalized it within the fibers of those enormous canvases.

Nowadays, you can look to the modern masters of local art that have the golden touch for catching the essence of the Golden State.

Coming this fall, stop in at The Knowlton Gallery in Downtown Lodi to peruse the works of one of these masters, Gil Dellinger.

Dellinger is one of those rare artists who can make an instant classic out of his work. Thin traces of soft light illuminate wood grains, dapple blades of grass and filter through leaves within his paintings.

I could prattle on about Dellinger's artistic abilities, but I'd rather people discover the work for themselves.

The exhibit featuring his work will be on display at The Knowlton this fall.
