After reading this story in this week's Lodi Living about Juan Gonzalez and his artistic focus on Dia de los Muertos, and after discovering a set of Dia de los Muertos drawings with a Star Wars theme, it got me even more interested in the holiday's creative aspects.

The quickie sketch attached to this blog is my first attempt at drawing myself in the DDLM style. I will attempt more and more, hopefully getting better with each one.

To that end, I'm determined to seek out local celebrations of the Dead to see what spin those in the area take on the annual event.

I've always been of the mindset that a person's life should be reveled in, rather than mourned, and when my time comes, I like the idea of a DDLM approach.

As the Mexican holiday nears and passes, look for pictures of the artwork I find, along with my own future attempts.
