Obama needs to focus on America

Saturday, November 21, 2009 5:48 AM PST

This is an open letter to President Obama.

President Obama, you were elected to be President of the United States not a peacemaker of the Middle East. So I say use your intellect to focus and concentrate on the task of keeping our country on track.

Let's take a lesson from or forefathers and where they came from in order to frame a piece of paper known as the Constitution and Bill of Rights for us citizens. Korea, Vietnam, Utah, California, New York, Nebraska; yes, not the Middle East — who cares?

Fix America first. This is the first order of business; let the Middle East nations fight each other. Let's deal with unemployment; get our jobs back to the USA. Who cares where Bin Laden is?

What's wrong with a nation here at home (USA) that has such a problem? All the people here need is the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, food, clothing, shelter and a good public school system, eh what.

Forget the Middle East. Let them fight each other. They don't have the forefathers we've had; but too bad for that.

Mr. Obama, come home and go to work for America, the beautiful. Eh what? The beautiful!

And, get our troops back home where we need them — without the flag-draped coffins.

Exacto mundo...sorry, I usually post the link and forgot this time.

Won't happen again, Mom! ;) "

" Larry, you probably should eat more chicken. It's not as hard on the ol' arteries. Lest we forget 9/11 we need to keep these terrorists at bay, i.e. somewhere else. Sandy spots are as good as any. I sure don't want to worry about IED's when I drive down Lower Sac, do you? I mean, you know, I'm just asking. "

" Drones and black ops... We can not nation build in Afghanistan because the economy is built around the opium trade. We could spend 50 yrs there and they'd still be blowing up schools -- one step forward and one step back. So we go after the cells where we find them, and that's what keeps the enemy busy dieing. Maybe I'm wrong -- but what are the chances of that? "

" Larry P. Johnson: Obama didn't get us into the Middle East, but he has to deal with it now FOR America. And you say, "Who cares where Bin Laden is?" Are you kidding me? "

" WTF, your posts seem to be in opposition to Larry's letter, not support.

I am confused. Do you agree with Larry when he says "Forget the Middle East. Let them fight each other. "? "

" Israel's many vocal and powerful friends in the United States should recognize once and for all that Israel is not, in fact, the fifty-first state. The US should be a friend to all nations but to speak of special relationships is to diminish America's ability to do what is best for the its own people. Doing what is best for our citizens does not include massive foreign aid programs and a series of wars based on dubious assumptions. It is past time to realize that the age of American empire has been a disaster for both the US economy and for our country's standing in the world. It is time to close close the book on democracy promotion and nation building. Close the door on our overseas bases, throw away the key, and bring our soldiers home. "

" Obama must demonstrate leadership by beginning to shape a foreign policy that is good for the United States and its citizens. That means ending the charade of trying to bring peace to the Middle East and disengaging completely from the "wars of choice" in both Iraq and Afghanistan. The billions of dollars annually in bribes to Israel, Egypt, and Jordan in hopes of good behavior might better be spent here at home or returned to the taxpayer. "

" Netanyahu, confident that he has the congress and the US media in his back pocket, knows that Obama can do nothing to force Israel to moderate its drive to complete the colonization of much of the West Bank. That the United States has willy nilly become an accomplice in the Israeli action is despicable and there is no conceivable American national interest that benefits from the relationship. "

" Good letter, Larry! This pretty much says it all:

Israel's decision reported earlier this week to build 900 more housing units on the West Bank is Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu's thumb in President Obama's eye. It comes a week after Obama, acting against his better judgment, met Netanyahu at the White house.

Sigh... Larry, we might forget the Middle East but they will not forget us. Isolationism was foolish in 1941, it is suicide today. "
