Galt police arrest Sacramento officer

A 23-year-old police officer was arrested Friday after allegedly assaulting and kidnapping his girlfriend at gunpoint at her Galt residence.

Bryan David Weinrich, who works for the Sacramento Police Department, was jailed on suspicion of kidnapping, false imprisonment, domestic violence and brandishing a firearm, according to Galt police. He has since been released from custody, according to Sacramento County Jail records.

The incident allegedly began Wednesday, when Weinrich and his girlfriend got into an argument at her home in northeast Galt, according Galt Police Lt. Jim Uptegrove. Weinrich allegedly assaulted the victim several times and brandished a gun, then later left the home.

Weinrich returned the next morning, and the two drove in his vehicle to Roseville, where Weinrich has a second home, Uptegrove said. Along the way the two began arguing, and Weinrich allegedly held the woman against her will when she tried to get out of the car at an intersection in Roseville.
