A 20-year-old Acampo woman was shot and killed shortly after she arrived home Wednesday night, according to the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office.

Britani Coberly and another person arrived at their residence in the 22400 block of North Highway 99 East Frontage Road shortly before 8:40 p.m. Deputies got a call of shots being fired, and they found two victims at the scene just south of Peltier Road.

Coberly was pronounced dead at a local hospital, said Sheriff's spokesman Deputy Dave Konecny. A second victim was treated and released from the hospital.

Officials have not released further information, other than to say that the shooting happened shortly after the victims arrived home. They asked anyone with information to contact the Sheriff's Office at (209) 468-4400.

" Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free!
I follow the plan God laid for me.
I saw His face, I heard His call,
I took His hand and left it all...
I could not stay another day,
To love, to laugh, to work or play;
Tasks left undone must stay that way.
And if my parting has left a void,
Then fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss...
Ah yes, these things I, too, shall miss.
My life's been full, I've savoured much:
Good times, good friends, a loved-one's touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief—
Don't shorten yours with undue grief.
Be not burdened with tears of sorrow,
Enjoy the sunshine of the morrow. "

" Wayne and Angie,
Our deepest sympathy goes out to you and your family. Britani was a beautiful young girl, always full of smiles. I pray that the Lord gives you and your family the strength to help heal the pain of such a devistating tragedy. And I pray that someone will come forward with answers to catch the coward who could take the life of such an innocent young woman!
Please let us know if you guys need anything at all or if we can help in any way.

" Wayne and Anjie- words can not even express how deeply sadend I am for your loss. Britani was a beautiful young woman and the loss of her is tragic, unjust, and cruel. You will be in our thoughts and prayers, as well as LW and K. No one deserves such a horrific loss and Britani will forever be remembered.

My heart goes out to you, Nicole Stockdale and Family "

" Wayne, Angie, Donna, and family my heart broke this morning when I read about Britani. What a wonderful girl she was. I remember her from a little girl who watched you guys play softball to a young woman who could out play most of them. I always enjoyed keeping score when she played because she was always happy and friendly. My prays and thoughts go out to all of you at this time. I hope whoever did this unthinkable crime is caught so no other family will have to go through this. Glenda King "

" I cannot believe these things keep happening in my town. The truth is, these trouble makers think they can come out here and commit crimes, unnoticed, because we are in the country, away from town. Well, I am glad to see that the sheriffs have been around more, but honestly, I have seen the sheriff out here about one or twice in the last 6 months. And the only reason they come out is when there is an accident, or a murder. "

" It is shocking..the current frequency of crime that has been occuring in this area of Acampo. Acampo is a great little country community also. Just a thought to authorities and those who are paying attention....you might want to pay closer attention to a mobile home on Acampo Road, across from the Des Moines intersection....FREQUENT random cars coming and going. They drive to the back portion of the property where there is an old shed and only stay for a few moments then quickly leave. Also, several reports of shots fired from that home as well. The whole neighborhood along Acampo AND Des Moines has been watching. "

" I am so sorry for your loss. Britini and My Daughter were the best of friends and she was like one of my own.
She will truely be missed by all the people who were honored to have known her and were her friend.
We will certainly never forget the wonderful memories that we have.
May the Lord gie you and your family the strength to get through this most horrible situation ever.
Our Prayers are with you.
