Jorge Diaz clutch in upset
Accomplishment: Lodi High senior goalkeeper Jorge Diaz had 10 saves, including a block in a penalty kick shootout that helped lift the Flames to an upset of Modesto in last Saturday's Sac-Joaquin Section playoff game in Modesto.
Family: Emteratriz Garcia, mother; three brothers, two sisters.
Favorite sport: Soccer. "I love everything about it," Diaz said. "I grew up with it. My whole family played soccer. My uncle was a goalie in high school and taught me everything I know."
Favorite athlete: NBA superstar Kobe Bryant. "The Lakers are my favorite team and Kobe is the best player in the NBA," Diaz said.
Favorite hobbies: Hanging out with friends.
Favorite subject: Math. Diaz said he's good with numbers.
Best sports moment: Saturday night's victory over Modesto.
Worst sports moment: Losing to rival Tokay earlier this year.
Dream car: Jaguar.
Dream vacation: Hawaii.
Favorite movie: "Friday," starring Ice Cube.
Favorite local restaurant: Burger King. Diaz said his favorite menu item is the double whopper combo.
Plans: To attend Cosumnes River College and play soccer.
