Public Health Clinic offering H1N1 vaccine

San Joaquin County's Public Health Services Department will be offering H1N1 flu shot vaccines on Friday from 8:30 to 11 a.m. and from 1 to 4 p.m. at its Lodi clinic, 300 W. Oak St.

The clinic is currently offering the shots to people who don't have insurance or a regular medical provider and who are in one of the following groups recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention:

  • Children and young adults from six months to 24 years old.

  • Pregnant women at any stage of their pregnancy.

  • Caregivers and household members of infants younger than six months.

    Grape Bowl Classic results released

    Galt High School's band was among those that took awards in Saturday's annual Grape Bowl Classic. It was held this year at Tokay High School and co-hosted by the Tokay and Lodi band programs.

    All said, there were 34 bands competing, including 16 in the jazz and concert category and four in field show.

    Locally, schools in the Elk Grove area also placed in the competition, with both Florin and Laguna Creek taking marching band awards in their respective divisions, according to results provided by Tokay High School Director of Bands Dan Talbert, the chairman of the 33rd annual Grape Bowl Classic.

    Both Franklin and Elk Grove took the top spots in Division AA, while Galt placed second in Division B.

    The winners of the parade sweepstakes for marching were Franklin High School for showmanship and Las Plumas/ Oroville for music.
