Alert neighbor spots, follows burglars
A Lodi family got their stolen televisions and jewelry back Monday after a neighbor interrupted burglars and followed the suspects, who dumped the property as they ran.
No arrests were made, despite an extensive police search along the tracks and numerous streets throughout the neighborhood.
The neighbor interrupted the burglars Monday afternoon in the 1600 block of South Sacramento Street, said Lodi Police Cpl. J.D. Moore. The man followed the male juvenile suspects as they fled south, abandoning two flat-screen TVs and a jewelry box along the tracks.
The city has seen a rise in residential burglaries over the past two months, many of them during the day when residents are at work. Thieves apparently knock on doors until they reach a home where nobody answers.
Police have asked citizens to report suspicious people and suggest that residents get to know their neighbors so they are more likely to spot strangers in the area.

DLBP executive director Jaime Watts said customers must bring their receipts into the DLBP office, located at 4 W. Pine St., in order to claim their gift card.
City Girl, Fashion Safari, New & Again Consignment Furniture Gallery, McKinley's Frame Shop and many more are backing the incentive program and will be offering gift cards to those who meet the requirements.
