Galt Kiwanis hosted fifth annual fall festival

Monday, November 2, 2009 4:04 PM PST

It was a beautiful fall morning when more than 100 children and their parents enjoyed attending the fifth annual Galt Kiwanis Fall Festival held at McFarland Ranch on Oct. 17.  The children were able to choose a pumpkin, go on hay rides, and play carnival games, all part of the free community event hosted by the Kiwanis Club. Celli Farms donated the pumpkins, and students from area high school Key Clubs ran the carnival games. Drinks and donuts were available at a minimal cost. Many children discovered the animals and spent time watching them throughout the morning. Parents and children alike, most of them never having been to McFarland Ranch, were fascinated by the house and grounds. Galt Kiwanis Club members organized this fun-filled family event, one that has increased in attendance each of the past five years. The annual event has become one that area families look forward to every October.

Later that same evening, Kiwanis hosted a western barbecue and hoedown at the Herald Barn.  The adults-only occasion included a tri-tip dinner, square dancing to a live caller, silent auction, and raffle. This event is one of the Kiwanis Club of Galt’s major fundraisers each year, and helps support its numerous area projects.
