Kiwanis of Galt held "back to school shopping" event
For the 12th consecutive year, the Kiwanis Club of Galt helped dreams come true for several deserving elementary school students at their annual “back to school shopping” event.
The Lodi Target store partnered with the Kiwanians to enable the young shoppers to pick out school clothes and shoes. The Kiwanis Club budgets $1,000 annually for this service project, and thanks to a discount offered by Target, was able to stretch those dollars.
Each child had an adult chaperone from the club who guided their clothing selections. Over the past 12 years, well over 100 local children have benefited from this program.
Each year, outreach consultants at Galt schools refer students to the Kiwanis Club for inclusion in the shopping spree. Kiwanis also provided breakfast at McDonald’s for all of the participating children.
