Director of Port of Stockton spoke to Rotary
Last week Richard Aschieris, director of the Port of Stockton, gave a really great talk and a power point to match. Aschieris has done a really wonderful job as high mugwump of the port and his numbers, in spite of the general economic outlook, have been more than admirable. Someone mentioned the fact it might be a really interesting field trip to tour the port. They have a really tight security there so it might be a good idea for guys like Jerry Fry to put on a tie that day. I ain't mentioning any other Jerrys for fear of reprisal.
Next week Irene Spencer, who was involved in a polygamous relationship, will speak. She wrote a book about her experiences. Some of you birds could write a similar book, but it would be banned in Boston, I betcha.
This would be an ideal time for each of us to begin the membership drive and get our new people into our new meeting facility and put the Lodi Rotary Club back on the map as it once was. It wasn’t that long ago that the Lodi Rotary Club had 150 members, which included folks who were almost as important as we, so getting nice people who are interested in the care and keeping of the planet shouldn’t be that difficult.
I still think the club and the town would be better off with one big club than three small ones. United we stand. Divided we…well you know.
