Sad to see closure of Hollywood Cafe
Lodi has lost another trademark business. On Oct. 26, the doors on the Hollywood Cafe closed and our unique city has lost an icon that has been here since before I was born.
The atmosphere was joyful and '50s music that stirred mine and many other hearts at 6 a.m. in the mornings has gone silent. The most wonderful people who ran the business, Ben and Robin, were heartbroken. But due to circumstances beyond their control, they had to close with saddened hearts.
I am sure we shall all persevere, but never again shall I be able to start my day with rock and roll in my soul and a wonderful feeling of happiness that the smile and sweetness of Robin gave to every guest that entered there. Ben gave his personal touch to every meal he cooked, and you knew your food was going to be exactly as you asked for it — with a little extra love on every plate.
They will be sorely missed; they already are. Ben and Robin gave personal attention to everyone that entered regardless of their mood, and had everybody ditty boppin' by the time they left. I absolutely miss them and wish them the best in all their endeavors in the future.
