Striped bass fishing in Delta still slow

Thursday, October 29, 2009 6:51 AM PDT

The striped bass fishing is still on the slow side in the Delta although there are fish in small sizes and quantities being caught in the Sacramento River below Rio Vista trolling.

Use Rebel, Yozuri and P Line lure for best results. Bait fishermen are doing best on the San Joaquin River although that fishing is also slow.

The trout fishing is a little better now that the planting has started at Camanche. Use Rapala and spoons for best trolling.

At New Melones, slow is the best we can say for this impoundment for both rainbow trout and kokanee. Bank fishermen are almost nonexistent and the trollers are about the same.

At Pardee, the bank fishermen are getting a few trout using Power Eggs and fishing on the bottom in about 30 to 40 feet of water.

Trout fishing is doing pretty good for the bank fishermen at Amador using trout worms and powerbait from the shore.

Local fisherman Russ Faught is the owner of Fisherman's Friend in Lodi. To view his Web site go to www.mrkokanee.com.
