Falcons trample over Galt's playoff hopes
Falcons Field turned out to be a literal chamber of horrors on Halloween for Galt head football coach Rich Maberto.
Corey Crowder rushed for 138 yards and a touchdown and teammate Jerimiah Sims added touchdown runs of 32, 19, and 15 yards as Christian Brothers routed visiting Galt 55-7 on Saturday in Sacramento.
The Falcons (5-3, 3-2 Sierra Valley Conference) rushed for 339 yards against the Warriors (4-4, 1-3 SVC) and a brawling Christian Brothers defense held Galt to just eight yards rushing on 11 carries.
The Warriors were forced to play without injured star junior running back Haran Piggee for the second-straight game and with their ground game virtually non-existent, they aired it out 41 times.
Starting quarterback Ryan Cox was 12-of-23 for 76 yards with two interceptions and sophomore backup quarterback Harrison Stone completed 10-of-18 passes for 90 yards and hit wide receiver Abram Piggee for the Warriors' lone touchdown on a 10-yard scoring aerial late in the fourth quarter.
"It's a tough time for us right now because we have some injuries to several key linemen on both offense and defense," Maberto said. "Obviously, we miss Haran Piggee and Neil Castro is also injured and that hurts us because we don't have a whole lot of depth at the skill positions. We are losing more players as the season goes on and it is hurting us."
Christian Brothers head coach Andre Johansen was sympathetic towards Galt after the game, saying the Warriors were a better team than the final score indicated, noting that his Falcons lost to conference foe Union Mine — a team that Galt beat earlier this season.
"We knew Galt had some outstanding athletes over there that were injured, especially Haran Piggee. That made a big difference in our game plan because we just stacked the box on defense with eight players to stop the run and tried to make them beat us with the pass," Johansen said. "We were able to control the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball today and we got some big plays as a result of that."
The Falcons scored four touchdowns in each half and led 27-0 at halftime. The Warriors did not help themselves with four turnovers, including a pair of fumbles, and were whistled for eight penalties in their worst performance of the season. Galt's playoff hopes all but disappeared with the loss. Up next the Warriors host SVC leader Oak Ridge (5-3, 3-0 SVC) at Erv Hatzenbuhler Field on Friday.

Get those hangers on off the sidelines! Not every Dad who did something for the program 20 years ago should be on the sideline. Have the boys who arn't playing (injured) wear pants. All the same pants, dark slacks. Have the coaches wear the same slacks too. And tuck in those shirts.
Being on that team and wearing the jersey is an honor. Treat it as such. "

What's your point? Galt has in the last 20 years just not been that good. Sure a few years here and there. No it's not the boys. Don't tell me EG kids are better athletes from birth. It's the system, or lack thereof. When you have no continuity it will show. And it shows.
I'm sorry to say this but, when I see our kids playing in the dump they play in, with the Coaching staff on the sidelines with their shirts untucked, non-playing boys with their jersey worn with shorts hanging around on the sidelines, etc, it all points to one thing. You know what I'm going to say don't you?
LACK OF PRIDE. LACK OF RESPECT.
Pride and Respect in themselves, their Town, their program, and their school.
Teach them that and the rest will follow. "

At what point does it become a matter of pride? 4 touchdowns a half? Don't give me that injury crap either.
At least we beat the Flamers. "
