More than 30 people lined Beckman Road and waved American flags on Friday as the body of Spc. Kyle A. Coumas, 22, of Lockeford, was brought home.

Coumas, 22, died Oct. 21 in Afghanistan of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked his vehicle. He was the only son of Michael and Lori Coumas.

“Kyle Coumas was a man who believed that serving his country, being a part of a greater whole and being dedicated to preserving our nation’s freedom was the most honorable job a person could have,” his parents wrote. “Kyle will always be remembered as a soldier who served with honor, dignity and pride. We are blessed to have been his parents for 22 years and will always love him, our only child, with all our hearts!”

" YES!!!! Please get out with your flags and signs to show tribute along the route. They will leave the Cherokee Funeral home at 10am - go down Beckman to Victor through Lockeford, Clements and Wallace. We have been rallying support - and it looks like we are in force. In Victor, PGE will have a tribute, in Lockeford, the line up will start at Paylees Market down to the Pizza Factory, in Clements by the Post Office and Fire Dept, and in Wallace near the Post Office! " I heard there will be a procession transporting him to his final resting place tomorrow, leaving Lodi at 10am, traveling through Lockeford, Clements and Wallace on Hwy 88...can anyone confirm this for sure? We need people bearing American flags to line the streets of these towns and everywhere in between to show their respect!! "

" Only two defining forces offered to die for us. Jesus Christ died for our soul. The American GI died for our freedom.

Spc Kyle Coumas now serves in the army of Heaven's Soldiers waiting to welcome all the faithful in God's kingdom.

God Bless his family, who raised a brave, selfless young man. "
