The Flames suffered their first loss in San Joaquin Athletic Association action since 2007, falling to the host Bulldogs on Thursday at Tracy Country Club.

While Lodi still remains in first place in its bid for a league repeat, Tracy's victory makes the race much more interesting.

The Flames (11-3, 8-1 SJAA) and Bulldogs (7-2) both have a match with Chavez before next Monday's league tournament at Swenson Park Golf Course in Stockton.

Marissa Hinchman led the Flames on Thursday with a 42, Coby Kooyman shot a 48, Danielle Aldrich carded a 49, Sarah Boles shot a 58 and Courtney Schmidt hit a 62.

Tokay 255, Edison 341

Kasey Ota shot a 46 to led the Tigers to a Tri-City Athletic League win over Edison (3-8-1) at Van Buskirk's par-36 course. Maggie Macfarlane followed with a 47 for Tokay (7-4), Katie Woznick hit a 49, Karissa Kiriu shot a 55, Emily Scroggins carded a 58 and Jenna Kanegawa turned in a 72.

Christian Brothers 213, Galt 225

Riley Sexton shot a 37 to lead the Warriors at Bartley Cavanaugh Golf Course.

Brittany Hamrick fired a 42, Alex Hohn shot a 47, Demaree Sexton hit a 48, Amber Garcia carded a 51 and Willie Douglas posted a 52. Galt will compete in the Sierra Valley Conference tourney on Monday at Lockeford Springs. The Warriors are currently in fourth place in the league standings.

Nicole Buzo had 18 kills and seven digs to lead the Tigers (10-10, 3-4 TCAL) to a 25-22, 25-15, 25-14 sweep of host McNair.

Arianna Brusa had 15 assists and 12 digs, Tori Nunez had 15 digs, two kills and two aces, Sarah Boron-Trotter had 20 digs and Brooke Malcolm had two kills and 10 digs.

Enrica Bosco had two kills and four digs, Chelsea Merwin had two aces, Allie Terry had one block, Lacy Cowin had one kill and Amber Ali had one dig.

Elliot 3, Wilton Christian 1

Catharine Simning had 18 assists and 11 digs to lead the Eagles (8-3, 6-2 Harvest Christian League) in the 25-15, 25-22, 23-25, 25-19 victory. MaKenna Cowden had 13 kills and Alice Sokolova had six aces.

Page Kininmonth had two aces, five kills and five digs for the Tigers in the 25-15, 25-20 victory.

Tori Schallberger had two aces and five digs, Jenna Rohde recorded two kills and six assists, Liz Boron-Trotter had six aces and two kills and Kacie Ring added two kills, two assists and five digs. Lillian Heng had four kills, Raquel Paler added five digs and Tori Pinasco had two kills.

Nicole Beardsley had three aces, three assists and three digs for the Tigers in the 22-25, 26-24, 15-9.

Morgan Ellis had five aces, Elliza North-Fauli notched seven kills, Ariel Wilkinson had three aces and three digs and Julie Kanemura had three assists.

Katiana Parisis had two kills, Makenna Plinski had two aces and Cheyanne Wagner and Kymber Lewis each had one kill.

Liberty Ranch 22, Lodi 21


Matt Thomas took a kickoff return 65 yards for a touchdown as the Hawks beat the Flames on Thursday night. Matt Holland scored on a 12-yard run and Jake Oliver added another touchdown for Hawks.

Liberty Ranch (5-1) took an 8-7 lead at half before scoring two more touchdowns to go up 22-7. Lodi then scored two TDs of its own, but couldn't complete the come back.

T.J. Ortiz scored on runs of 12 and 5 yards for the Flames and Cheo Tessaro scored on a 50-yard interception return. Max Lyons ran in a two-point conversion.

Lodi was originally scheduled to play Franklin but the Yellowjackets forfeited, improving the Flames to 3-3 overall and 1-0 in SJAA play.

Girls Tennis

Lodi 5, Chavez 0


The Flames swept visiting Chavez in SJAA action.

In singles play, Anna Adams knocked off Seng Moua 6-0, 6-0, Audrey Simon defeated Lisa Lim 6-1, 6-0 and Taylor Barajas defeated Mai Vang 6-1, 6-0.

In doubles action, Jacque Lord and Emily Bingham won 6-0, 6-2, and Kendall Patterson and Taylor Lee won 6-2, 7-5.

Union Mine 8, Liberty Ranch 1

Lauren Moore rallied to beat Lori Knudson 2-6, 6-3, 10-6, giving Liberty Ranch its only victory in the loss to visiting Union Mine.

"She's a cool, calm player," Liberty Ranch coach Grant Denney said of the freshman.

In other matches, Bethany Masse beat Cassie Gomez 6-1, 6-3, Ellie Klumb held off Ashley Haymore 7-5, 7-6 (7-4) in a close match, and Machaeli Melrose beat Danielle Sanders 7-5, 6-4. Jessica Harris defeated Jennah Schrader 6-2, 6-1 and Ali Learner beat Allie Rasmussen 6-1, 7-6 (7-5).

In doubles, Laura Hammond and Gabby Aveni beat Faith Lamire-Baeten and Courtney Buss 6-1, 6-1, Dylan Jokoy and Michelle Lee defeated Monica Fregoso and Chelsey Howard 6-0, 6-1, and Liz Bailey and Jessi McPeters beat Azeret Gutierrez and Courtney Thomas 6-4, 6-1.

Andrew Watts had eight saves in the net for the Flames.

Mikee Whiteside had six steals, three assists and one goal, Mitch Thomas had three steals and five goals and Kevin den Hartog added one steal and two assists.

Jack Morris and Jacob Saco each scored once, Connor Silva and Cameron White both had two steals and Zack Piazza added one.

Tokay 10, Sonora 7

Jack Hahn had five goals and Sam Drake added three to lead the Tigers (9-3, 4-1 TCAL) in Wednesday's victory. Eli Macdonald and Berkley Price each scored once, Paul Aquinaga had three saves and Paul Moore had eight steals in the net.

Brianna VanDiemen scored three goals as Lodi (3-1) rolled to a league win on Thursday. Tori Detloff added two goals and Gianna Zazzarino scored another. Karlie Goss and Jadin Kidson-Trigg combined for 12 saves in the cage for Lodi.

Drive for Diversity


Juan Pitta, of Galt, will be taking part in NASCAR's Drive for Diversity Combine today through Tuesday at Lowe's Motor Speedway in Charlotte, N.C. and Motor Mile Speedway in Radford, Va.

Pitta, who is one of 12 drivers in the program designed to increase minority and female drivers in NASCAR, competed in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series at All American Speedway for Bill McAnally Racing this season.

With a good showing at the combine, Pitta could continue to move up the ranks of NASCAR. The combine will also be featured in a TV series called "Changing Lanes." The 10-part series will showcase the development of young drive for Diversity competitors trying to make it in the big-time world of NASCAR racing and will air in early 2010 on BET.

David Simon threw a 40-yard TD pass to Sean Scott and Chance Trammell scored on a 75-yard kickoff return for the Flames (2-3). Frank Payne rushed for 80 yards.

Joey Bentz threw a 25-yard TD pass Anthony Jory for Lodi's only touchdown. Braden Colburn had three sacks for the Flames (2-3).

Dustin Hammond had TD runs for 45 and 35 yards for the Flames (5-0). Andrew Staley caught a 19-yard TD pass fro Chris Lenordini, Rubin Davis scored on a 41-yard run and Brennen Berringer on a 20-yard run. Cameron Shubert and Zack Tennis each had an interception and Ryder Morrison had two sacks.

Junior Peewee
Lodi 20, Fair Oaks 6


Ryan Culver had TD runs of 60 and 10 yards for the Flames (1-4) and Daniel Erving returned an interception 50 yards for a score. Jeffrey Seibel led the defense with five tackles and Ryan Culver and Trevor Schultz had three apiece.

Mighty Mites
Fair Oaks 12, Lodi 8


James Roach ran for 75 yards for the Flames. On defense, Jacob Valentine had eight tackles, Bret Tennis had five and Trenton Luiz added four.
