After nine years renting movies, videogames and selling snacks to enjoy them, the Blockbuster on Ham Lane is shutting its doors. The store employs six people who will be transfered to other locations, Blockbuster spokesman Randy Hargrove said.

The store stopped rentals on Oct. 11.

"There will be plenty of times for customers to return their movies," Hargrove said.

The store will close its doors for good Nov. 15. It is liquidating its inventory and offering sales to clear the shelves in the meantime.

The 4,000 square foot store housed roughly 5,000 titles of movies and videogames. The 7,000 square foot Blockbuster on Kettleman Lane will remain in business. It has been open since March 1993.

" These places are all evil anyhow -- a business predicated on charging exorbitant late fees to its customers. "

" The only surprise is that it's been able to remain in business this long. With Netflix and other Internet-based movie rental services, it's just a matter of time until the rest of the Hollywood's and Blockbuster's go the way of video tape, 8-tracks and vinyl. "
