Work continues on Japantown mural
News-Sentinel Photographer
In the wee hours of Friday morning, Tony Segale of Segale Fine Art and Gold Leaf Sign Company, armed with a cup of coffee and a permanent marker, began more work on the Japantown mural.
In his right hand he held the image of a Japanese baseball team. In the other, the left-handed artist fluidly moved a black marker across the hard concrete as light projected the same image onto his canvas.
Passersby stopped in awe as they watched Segale work.
The mural, approved in May, adorns the annex building of the Buddhist Temple on Stockton and Elm streets.
Historic images of store fronts, children, the Japanese baseball team, and women in traditional dress will be painted on the walls when the muralist is done.
