Lodi is full of hope
I still believe in hope. This is my first "Letter to the Editor."
I have lived in Lodi all of my adult life. I am now 42 years old and have a glimmer of hope because of some unconditional godly people.
I suffer from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and have severe panic attacks. Sometimes I'm scared to leave my house. My husband had a rare life-threatening reaction to a doctor-prescribed medication that was supposed to make him feel better. If it wasn't for the quick thinking and caring Corporal Sierra Brucia and fellow officers, my husband would have died. A friendly referral to San Joaquin Health Crisis saved his life. They had referred me but they saved his life!
One officer, I don't know his name, told me you can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink. My grandma Jennie Rose said that too. I was in a very unhealthy relationship for over 20 years and I had lost hope and desire! Thanks to David Lewis, Colleen and James Hamlin, Jeff, RaeAnn, Desiree, Windy, Mary Margaret, Lynnette, Jim Carroll, Bob Mattheis and Henry, we are still here. If it wasn't for God and them, we wouldn't be here. I still believe "Do unto others as they would do unto you," "The truth shall set you free" and "Love thy neighbor as thyself."
One of Lodi's first volunteer angels was Cristopher's grandma, Suzanne Brodehl Laidlaw. We should all support Officer Dennis' Adopt-a-Child. I know God will judge us by our fruits and we should never hurt anyone.
Thank you, Lodi! Serenity is freedom amid the storm, author unknown. Lodi has hope and love still.
