Anna Adams helps settle the score
Accomplishment: Lodi High junior tennis player Anna Adams helped the Flames avenge a loss to Lincoln and return to their winning ways with a crucial victory in last week's 3-2 win over the Trojans.
The Flames learned last Wednesday that their 147-match winning streak in San Joaquin Athletic Association matches was over when a tennis official upheld Lincoln's controversial win over the Flames on Sept. 22. Lodi was also playing Lincoln again last Wednesday and got a measure of revenge thanks in large part to Adams, who beat defending SJAA singles champion Naomi Villapondi 6-3, 6-2 to help the Flames secure a close 3-2 victory.
Family: Mark and Nancy Adams, parents; two sisters.
Favorite sport: Tennis. "I like to go out there and pound the ball," Adams said. "It's good exercise. I also like that it's a team sport but you don't have to depend on anyone in your match."
Favorite athlete: Tennis legend Roger Federer. "I think he's the greatest tennis player of all time," Adams said.
Favorite hobbies: Hanging our with friends and riding her bike.
Favorite local restaurant: Shirasoni Japanese Sushi and Steakhouse. Adams said the sukiyaki steak is her favorite dish.
Dream car: BMW.
Would like to visit: A trip to Europe that would include stops in Greece, Italy and France.
Would like to meet: God.
Internet or newspaper: Newspaper. "I don't like the Internet that much for news."
Best sports moment: Winning the SJAA doubles title last year with Lodi teammate Jacque Lord.
Plans: To attend a four-year university. Adams, who prefers UC Santa Barbara, is considering becoming a lawyer.
