Tokay-Lodi looking for votes


The Tokay-Lodi cross-town rivalry is one of five finalist to be KCRA's featured high school football game of the week next week.

There is currently a poll up at http://sacramento.highschoolplaybook.com where people can vote for their preferred matchup. The winner will be featured on the TV channel and the KCRA helicopter will fly over the game.

Votes per person are unlimited and videos can be uploaded to earn 5,000 votes. Voting will end on Wednesday at 7 p.m. and the results will be broadcast on KCRA at 11 p.m. Wednesday.

Folsom 3, Lodi 0

Emily McConahey had 16 digs, six kills and one ace for the Flames (5-1) in the 25-23, 25-19, 25-17 loss at Folsom.

Tori Shepard had three kills and seven digs and Betsy Colburn had 10 assists, nine digs and two aces.

Kacie Ring had 11 assists and seven digs for the Tigers in the 25-21, 25-23 victory.

Nateil Evans had four aces, two kills and two digs, Tori Schallberger had three aces and 15 digs and Paige Kininmonth added eight kills.

Folsom 2, Lodi 1

The Flames lost their first match of the season 23-25, 25-18, 15-4 on Thursday in Folsom. Kelley McConahey recorded seven aces and six kills and Kendra Sanguinetti added seven digs and one kill for Lodi (4-1).

Nicole Beardsley had three aces, three kills, three assists and 10 digs for Tokay in the 25-6, 22-25, 15-6 victory.

Elliza North-Fauli had nine aces and five kills, Julie Kanemura recorded six assists and three aces, Morgan Ellis had six aces and Megan Butler added two kills.

Lodi 2, Folsom 0

Lodi improved to 5-0 with a 25-8, 25-8 victory in Folsom on Tuesday. Mia Sahli led the Flames with eight aces, three assists and two digs, Nicole Stone posted seven kills, two aces and two digs, Alexis Barba recorded two digs, five aces and had 16 service points and Maria Barba added three digs and one kill.

Galt 200, Liberty Ranch 266


In a cross-town matchup with an aunt and nephew coaching against each other, the Warriors downed the Hawks on Thursday at Forest Lake. Galt, coached by Janice Williams, was led by Riley Sexton's 31 and Brittany Hamrick's 36. Willie Douglas and Alex Hohn both shot 44s for the Warriors, Demaree Sexton carded a 45 and Natalie Nunez hit a 50.

Jordan Garzoni's 46 was the best round for Liberty Ranch, who are coached by Josh Williams. Rachel Anslinger hit a 48, Kacy Hackett posted a 56 and Stacey Guerrero and Michaun Bromley both shot 58.

Lodi 245, Franklin 359

Marissa Hinchman shot a 1-over 38 on Thursday at Woodbridge Country Club and the Flames stayed perfect in San Joaquin Athletic Association play. Coby Kooyman hit a 43 for Lodi (4-0 SJAA, 6-2), Danielle Aldrich turned in a 50, Sarah Boles carded a 54 and Courtney Schmidt shot a 60.

St. Mary's 236, Tokay 304

Kasey Ota hit a Tiger-best 52 on Thursday at Elkhorn Country Club, but the Rams won to roll to 5-0 in Tri-City Athletic League play. Maggie Macfarlane hit a 62 for Tokay (3-2 TCAL), Katie Woznick shot a 62, Jenna Kanegawa turned in a 68, Emily Scroggins posted a 71 and Kiefah Addi hit a 75.

Suzanne Azpeitia and Niki Kelly led the Rams with 48s.

The Flames swept the meet in Stockton and the varsity boys and girls squads both improved to 3-0 in San Joaquin Athletic Association action.

Lodi's Tommy Lomeli won the boys race, finishing with a time of 16 minutes, 9 seconds. Brandon Costa was fourth (17:44).

The Flames' Brenley Noori was first in the girls race with a time of 20:21. Sydney Olagaray was second (20:24).

Lodi's James Reddis won the frosh-soph boys race (10:42) and the Flames' Teresa Lallana won the frosh-soph girls race (12:58).

The Flames swept singles play at Twin Arbors, with Anna Adams beating Serena Kesovans 6-3, 6-0, Audrey Simon defeating Lila Kesovans 6-0, 6-1 and Taylor Bajaras knocking off Ka Vang.

In doubles, Lodi's Leonie Lach and Jacque Lord beat Nuanh Nguyen and Ly Vo 6-1, 6-1 and Bear Creek's Megan Harris and Emily Xiong defeated Kendall Patterson and Taylor Lee 6-2, 7-5.

Galt 8, Cordova 1

The Warriors swept doubles play to defeat Lancers at Cordova. Warriors Allison Barsetti and Dani Wise teamed up to beat Christina Tsyberman and Nancy Yang 6-0, 6-3, Ashley Rose and Corinne Madison combined forces to drop Karol Chacon and Annaka Reader 6-1, 6-3 and Alyssa Greenhaw and Dani Smith combined to knock off Kaetyng Chen and Geovanna Sosa 6-1, 6-0.

In singles action, Galt's Christina Phillips downed Michelle Lee 6-0, 6-1, Jana Hackett bested Irina Gulchenko 6-4, 6-4, Sarah Houghtaling downed Sherry Lee 6-3, 6-3, Devin Smith topped Anja Hinda 6-2, 6-2 and Courtney Wright topped Kailey Chen 7-5, 6-3. Cordova's Brenda Yang beat Alexis Silva 6-4, 1-6, 6-4.

Oak Ridge 8, Liberty Ranch 1

The Hawks lost to visiting Oak Ridge in SVC action. Oak Ridge swept singles play, with Julia Dunniga beating Ashley Haymore 6-0, 6-2, Katrina Lund defeating Lauren Moore 6-0, 6-0, Kaitlin Corell knocking off Jennah Schrader 6-1, 6-0, Lauren Roppolo blanking Danielle Sanders 6-0, 6-0, Alexis Hill beating Allie Rasmussen 6-2, 6-3 and Taylor Hammonds defeating Lindsey Villa 6-0, 6-1.

In doubles, Liberty Ranch's Monica Fregoso and Faith Lamire-Baetn earned the victory when the Oak Ridge team retired leading 6-3, 3-0. The Hawks' Tabitha Daniel and Courtney Bush lost 6-0, 6-0 and Ezeret Guitierez and Chelsey Howard fell 6-2, 7-6.

Payton caught a 45-yard TD reception from Gentry Brawith and added 11 tackles and a forced fumble on defense for the Tigers. Savion Stewart had a 38-yard TD run. Christian Brown had four tackles.

Jared Wall scored the game-winning touchdown on a 99-yard fumble return.

Jonathan Wright scored on a 75-yard run for the Tigers (3-2). Marcos Paderes led the defense with eight tackles and a forced fumble. Dezi Hall had seven tackles and Marcos Ortega, Brandon Ollar and Bobby Maestaz each had six.

Michael Kirkendall had a 2-yard TD run and threw for 151 yards for the Tigers (4-1). Alex Ollar had 47 yards receiving, including a 12-yard TD catch.

Nick Coffman and Alex Charles both had seven tackles and Levi Patterson added five. Frankie North had an interception to set up the winning score.
