Elinor Niles
Teacher
Elinor Ann Thorne Niles, 83, of Lodi, died Aug. 21. She was born Jan. 15, 1926, in Kalamazoo, Mich.
Mrs. Niles was a teacher for Fairsite School in Galt prior to her retirement. She also worked as a telephone operator. She was active in Delta Gappa Gamma Society International, Women's Educational Society, Western Michigan University Alumni and MENSA. She was a member of the Grace Presbyterian Church, a deacon and Sunday School teacher, and she participated in many roles in her church. She was involved with the Steven's Ministry. She participated in the Literacy Program at the Lodi Library.
She is survived by her daughter, Karen Donnelly, of Federal Way, Wash.; and brother, David Thorne, of Hawaii.
She was preceded in death by brother, James Thorne.
A funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at Grace Presbyterian Church, 10 N. Mills Ave., Lodi, with Dr. David Hill officiating. Inurnment will be at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park, Kalamazoo, Mich.
Lodi Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
