Former Flames gather for 70th high school reunion

Jokes about Creedence Clearwater Revival's "Stuck in Lodi" abounded as classmates came together Friday at the Richmaid Restaurant.
Ken Nelson, of Sacramento said, "I thought 'Stuck in Lodi' was the best song to rock and roll to," as he shared memories and talked about life now.
About 257 students graduated from Lodi Union High School in 1939 — 70 years ago. During this lunchtime class reunion, between 15 and 20 former Flames came together once more.
"Born and raised in Woodbridge. Stuck in Lodi," Nelson laughed as he spoke about being class president. He reminisced about his high school sweetheart, Jane Toliver Jacinto, chasing him all over campus and then tripping him. They have been married over 68 years.
Classmates traveled from Idaho, Nevada and Esther Heiser traveled from as far away as Ft. Meyers, Fla.
The class poet, with already 69 poems under her belt, read yet another on this day. The seniors all listened as Alora MacGregor Knight, of Gardenville, Nev. spoke her words.
Angelo Fanos, of Lodi, asked the class if they wanted to continue the tradition. A flood of clapping and "Yes!" came from the surviving members.
