Striped bass fishing still on the slow side

Thursday, September 17, 2009 6:34 AM PDT

The striped bass fishing is still on the slow side in the Delta although there are fish in small sizes and quantities being caught in the Sacramento River below Rio Vista trolling. Use Rebel, Yozuri and P Line lure for best results.

At Camanche, trout fishing is slow with a few trying their luck with some success using PowerBait near the Spillway. Try fishing in 35 feet of water and on the bottom.

Slow is the best we can say for New Melones for both rainbow trout and kokanee. Bank fishermen are almost nonexistent and the trollers are about the same. Only the hardcore fishermen are spending their time trolling at 40 to 60 feet with limited success.

At Pardee, the bank fishermen are getting a few trout using PowerEggs and fishing on the bottom in about 30 to 40 feet of water. Trollers are having some success at the mouth of the river and the buoy line near the spillway for rainbow trout using trolling blades and crawlers at 40 feet deep.
