'LitterBug' song isn't helping Lodi High campus litter issue
Being concerned Lodi High students, we must say that the "LitterBug" song played on campus at lunch time is going too far.
Our principal, who seems to think that we are a bunch of adolescent delinquents who litter every day, thinks that a silly, annoying song is honestly going to make us pick up our trash. Half the kids at lunch throw away their trash, so why are we punishing the whole school?
As far as I know, this will provoke even more students to litter, out of anger and annoyance of the song that is constantly played. The song has about 10 different versions, and it is put on repetitively all through lunch. What is this showing us as a school? This is all making a big fuss out of a little issue that can be handled in a more responsible way.
Ditch the song and approach the problem more responsibly and maturely.

Well, from what they've seen here by the party you represent, dyan, they are sure to have a bad taste in their mouths about Republicans. Hopefully they will learn that it's not just Democrat or Republican and that there are right wingnuts that even the self respecting Republicans will denounce, and vice versa. "

" Back to reality, Lodian. The subject is trashing LHS. You still have avoided your "feelings" on the subject. Why? "
I have already told you how sad it is that you feel that kids are all "basically slobs and have been conditioned to only care about themselves". It's just terrible that you say these things about your kids when it's YOU that is their parent. It's your job to raise them well. I wonder if this is a cycle of abuse in the family. "

dyan: I didn't complain about a problem. YOU said there was a problem. Therefore, dingus, YOU are the one that should address your own question. Again, sorry your children are... "basically slobs and have been conditioned to only care about themselves" (your words). Very sad. "

Again... You, dyan, are the one that stated, "Kids are basically slobs and have been conditioned to only care about themselves."
So, dyan, you'll have to be the one to share why you've had this problem with your kids, since you've lived it first hand and I have not. "

My child just graduated from LHS so I asked about this song. She said it was so annoying, repetitive and juvenile that could easily understand Claire and Josh's point of view. She thought that this song only made the kids feel like they were being treated as if they were in elementary school.
I recently read that the old LHS Principal (and song author) is now at the district office. Only a couple comments - how appropriate and thank goodness! "

Maybe a more productive approach to solving the "litterbug" problem would be to cite offenders and make them responsible for cleaning up trash for an entire lunch period, or even to pay a fine.
As an aside; I find it LAUGHABLE that those making comments about the writers' grammar/spelling/punctuation (which by the way was FINE), don't bother to take 2 seconds to check their own. Interesting, ironic, and yet soooooo funny! "

i advise that you should really think about what your say considering you ARE making yourself look like an a** on here. Who in the hell do you think you are to go and talk to people like their opinion means nothing and your opinion means the world? For your information, my sister is living on her own paying her rent, paying her own expenses, and is only twenty. You probably ARE a middle-aged lodian who sits around all day doing nothing for Lodi. Josh and I are the future of Lodi and here you are trying to bring us down? And i actually did find an error, so lets just stop with the errors, because obviously you and your little "five year old mentality " enjoys picking a fight. In other words, the reason why Lodi sucks is because of a**es like you who look at every situation badly and don't appreciate the youth that are acutally making an effort to make this city a little better. Who knows, you were probably the same way when you were a kid; but lets not make assumptions, that would be rude wouldn't it now. "

First off, "Mr. Know It All", your name is "dogsforyou" ! The name says it all. You're a middle age man who lives in Lodi with absolutely no life whatsoever. You sit at home or in your office and argue with 15 year olds to try and validate your points. That ALSO says something. You feel as if you need to prove yourself in an attempt to lift yourself above everyone else. You think the words you express are more important than my 15 year old sisters? You're incorrect. It is called freedom of speech. She and all her 15 year old friends have the right to express their feelings, even if it does have to do with something your do not care for. Why dont you have a little respect? Let me tell you Mr. my sister and her friends could be out romping Lodi during class time, but instead they are in school getting involved and trying to make their school a better place! Why dont you think of this as a positive thing instead of being so pessimistic! A 15 year olds feelings and concerns are just as important as yours. Get a life. "

Concerning adult`s opinion of teen agers, answer your own question, School St. at Elm or an ally on the week-end, not to say all kids are drunk on their azz, but a few make a bad statement for all. Young 15 year old person, when you start paying bills, drive a car, ( your mom`s ) vote and get a life you will know what I am talking about. At 15 years old, your still a baby, and being older than you, I have the right to assume anything I like. Good luck, and when you drive use your seat belt. I happen to be the girl who wrote this letter, and I AM NOT an adolescent delinquent. I am 15 years old and in english honors and know very well how to compose a letter. I throw away my trash at school. Let's find some errors in the letter, and compare it with your ten year old attitude and your posts full of errors. The "letter to the editor" is in the opinion section for a reason, therefore you have no right to assume ANYTHING about me or my friend. "

Our kids do care about school grounds and school pride. I know, I was there.
After being belittled for so many years, having electives stripped away and being taught in an unsafe environment, they have been broken.
Finally things are turning around ... looking up!
Do we want to lose these kids that are geniuses at technology that wasn't available in our day.
Your attitude saddens me deeply. "

Typical Lodi adults (some) that think teenagers only cause trouble.
Our city council consistently puts more money into developing street murals and improving the animal shelter instead of additional sports fields, concerts and other creative options for our youth.
How great it was to finally see the skate park open again.
One movie complex, curfew of 11:00 pm and then our community acts horrified when yet another teenager is needlessly killed. "

There was more school pride when I went to school, no trash to pick up since there was no trash on the ground in the first place, along with no fast food wrappers tossed by someone who cared less about school pride. You don`t like your current school principal, too bad, remember you don`t always get what you want, and will find that out as you go through life.
At 15 1/2, Twitter and Ipods are a great source of mind control, and kids these days would be lost without them. That extra 1/2 year really makes a difference, thanks for pointing that out. "
